It's official. I'm OBSESSED. This woman is amazing. Her name is Brooke Shaden and she's a fine art photographer. Besides just creating art (which she is so incredible at it makes me equal parts envious and inspired), she is a teacher and a video blogger. She's in the process of doing a series of 100 videos, 1 per week! Last I checked she was on week 99, which shows a crazy amount of dedication. Something that is absolutely crazy to me is the timing for finding Shaden's work. My parents had just taken Ben and I out to eat last Thursday, to celebrate two years of my painting business being my full time career. I was telling them about my struggles and how frustrated I was that I couldn't find artists who knew how to market themselves the way I was hoping to market myself/work in the new year. What I mean by that is, I'm in the works of transitioning, to make my business more genuinely me - my art more personal, taking on less custom work, less furniture pieces and instead focusing on the reason why I wanted to be an artist in the first place - to create a physical form of my thoughts, dreams, fears, etc - and for that work to inspire others. To find an artist who does this, along with having an amazing online presence, who motivates other artists and people in general, and continues to stay motivated is very rare. And by very rare, I mean - this is the first time I've found someone like this. To say I'm excited is an understatement.
There is nothing better than having someone to look up to in your field. Thank you Brooke Shaden for being you and creating such inspirational work! Now to watch your other 98 videos :)
