I made this painting roughly 3 years ago, while having a crying fit because I had just started taking birth control pills and they were making me off the chain insane.
Saturday I get a text from a friend of my Mom's, saying that she's interested in this painting. I go to her house yesterday, and she asks me what the story is behind it. I get pretty nervous, because it's not a common thing to talk about birth control or crying fits with someone you don't know. But I couldn't think of what else to say, so I told the truth. She ended up telling me that she's been working in pharmaseuticals for 30 years and the fact that this painting was about pills is what drew her to it. She paid me for the painting, commissioned me for two more and I went on my way.
So, moral of the story: Tell the truth. Even when it's weird and uncomfortable.
