Last week I drove to the VMFA to take photos to draw from for the RVA Calendar (which is super close to being done!!). The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is definitely one of my favorite places to go to in Richmond, checking out the Art Nouveau section especially - and like most, I spend all my time inside the building. Last week it was really fun to walk around the outside and capture just how gorgeous the architecture is from every angle:
I decided the last photo was what I would reference for my drawing, and here's how it turned out!
Drawing is for sale for $175 with the option to be custom framed for an additional $100. Click here for details!
and here's a sneak peek of another page you'll be seeing in the RVA Calendar :)
The VMFA is open 365 days a year, and it's FREE admission! You just have to pay a little extra if you want to see the special exhibits - like the Rodin exhibition going on right now. It's definitely worth a trip if you haven't been - you'll be amazed at the different themed rooms and how easily you can get lost. They also have so many fun and unique things in their gift shop! And I just found out there's a VMFA Gift Shop that's open at the Short Pump Mall now, so if driving downtown isn't your favorite, you have another option. More info about the VMFA here.
*Reminder that 10% of all proceeds made through purchases on my site from now until November 30th - will go straight to the Alzheimer's Foundation in honor of National Alzheimer's Awareness Month. If there's a piece you've been eyeing, consider buying it before the end of the month and be simultaneously giving to a great organization! More info here & here.
