Once upon a time in 2007 at a church camp called Kairos, a girl named Mandy met a boy named Ben.
Mandy thought Ben was very funny. They became friends.
Ben told Mandy he liked her.
Mandy considered this. After two weeks of deliberation she realized she liked him too.
They went to dances together and dressed up for Halloween and Harry Potter Parties together. Ben sang Mandy songs and Mandy painted Ben paintings. Ben stayed with Mandy even when her hair was very ugly and Mandy proudly stood by her man when he attached a ping pong paddle to his graduation cap. Even though they went to different schools for high school and college, they stayed BFFs and became masters of long distance relationshipping.
After almost 5 years of this, they decided to move in together. Ben proposed to Mandy the day they moved into the apartment that would very soon destroy almost all of their possessions, make them very angry and sick, but also make them even better BFFs because they dealt with all the stupid bogus BS together. Like champions. #DontLiveatCanterburySquare
A little over a year later they got married and moved to lots of new places, pretty much every couple of months they moved. All the while hating moving, but loving each other.
On August 9th they will have been together for seven years and married for one!
Not much has changed since Bendy first became Bendy. Except their hair. Now Ben's is long and Mandy's is short.
Now is where I stop the third person talk and go back to normal - Ben and I are going on a mini vacation to celebrate 7 years of our bestfriendship and love and our one year anniversary as husband and wife. So for one of the only times in my blogging career I am giving myself a little excuse to not blog for a couple days and just fully enjoy being with the sweetest, funniest, and absolute best looking human on the planet. In the meantime, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and I'll talk to you next week :)
PS Tonight is First Fridays! There's still time to go to the Depot Gallery to view "The Gold Standard", featuring work by 25 of VCUarts alumni (myself included!) details here.
