From cream cracked leather to gorgeous green! Check out my latest upholstery makeover on this beautiful Rococo princess chair, done for the talented photographer, Carter, of Ample Heart Photography!
Here's what Carter gave me to start with:
This chair clearly had a TON of potential with gorgeous detailing and good bones, it just needed a little love to show it in it's best light :)
After removing about 3 bazillion rusted upholstery nails:
I stripped the fabric and got started painting the frame.
I used DecoArt's American DECOR Chalky Finish Paint in "Primitive". A color I've very rarely used, but definitely have a love for after seeing how it so quickly transformed this chair!!
I did some light distressing on the paint and covered it with a coat of wax to keep it protected. Next I used the original stripped leather fabric as a template to trace & cut fresh fabric. This is by far the highest quality fabric I have EVER worked with, and I am in LOVE. It was beautifully lined and covered so well!
Next was the loud part. I normally do my furniture projects at night while Ben and I watch TV, but I had to resist for this step, because I had to hammer for HOURS! Hundreds of upholstery nails and many hours of Gilmore Girl reruns later aaaaaand:
I love it so much! Saying goodbye to it will be very hard. Fortunately, Carter has a second MATCHING chair that needs the exact same job done! So I'll get to hang out with it's twin for a few weeks during it's transformation :)
I'd love to hear your thoughts and answer any questions you may have about the refinishing/reupholstering process! Comment below :)
