A few months back I created a custom hand painted table runner for a very talented photographer friend of mine, Kathryn Ivy, to use for a styled shoot. I painted on muslin, something that was very new to me! I had to use a LOT of fabric medium to get the paint to spread the way I wanted to. In the end I was pretty happy with the results, but absolutely blown away by Kathryn's photography skills. Look at these gorgeous images she took!! Soooo pretty :)
Now, I take a lot of photos of my work for my website. And I'm not bad by any means (I took the decent photo at the top of this post), but I'm not a photographer. I'm just someone who takes pictures. Having my work photographed by a professional is sooooo completely different. They know about lighting and editing and my skills in those areas just don't even compare. People say in business and life that "you can't do it all" and they're right, despite how much I (and all other entrepreneurs) try to prove them wrong. Sometimes it's best to leave certain tasks to the professionals so that you can focus on expanding the skills that matter most to you. So thank you, Kathryn, for showing my work in it's best light and helping me to realize that I don't have to (and really, shouldn't) do all of the things.
