It's so crazy to believe that Ben and I are homeowners now!! We're both so excited and after leaving for the week in Orlando, we are itching to get started on beautifying our new place :)

As I mentioned yesterday, I am THRILLED that I am finally allowed to paint the walls where we live! After I wrote yesterday's blog I went to Lowes and bought soooooooooooo much paint and supplies! I knew the first room I wanted to get started on would be the room I've been dreaming about having for so long! My own office!

In our apartment I have a studio/office combo and while I know it's a lot more than many artists have - it gets really cramped really fast! Since I write a blog every weekday, along with constant website redesigning, tax paperwork and record keeping, it's hard to keep my paints and pastels from getting all over everything when inspiration strikes. I've been dreaming of having a separate space where I could meet with clients and discuss painting ideas, interview artists in person rather than over emailing, while preventing my acrylics from forcing their way onto my keyboard.

Last night we got started on painting, the color Valspar's "Gravity" grey and it's so pretty in person. I'll have to get a better shot of it during the day!

I just painted the back wall with Kilz 2 because I'm going to be stenciling a lacy pattern over it and this way the white will show through and look feminine and pretty!

One of the tools I fell in love with during this process was the Shur Line Paint Edger that you can buy at Lowes for something like $4 or $5. You can attach it to the end of your extension pole and while it's not a perfect straight shot (there were a couple little dots of grey on the ceiling here and there) it'll save you a ton of time in taping, and you'll just have to touch up a tiny bit. You can also pop the paint pad off really easily and refill it with a fresh one if you don't feel like cleaning it. We did two coats of the grey paint on 3 walls and finished that night! I'm not an expert wall painter, but that seems pretty fast to me and I think the paint edger contributed a lot to that.
We're hoping to paint a room each day so that when we move everything in we won't have to worry about paint getting on our furniture. Tonight is the family room be sure to check the blog tomorrow to see how it turns out :)
