I told you a couple months ago about a dream/nightmare that I knew I wanted to turn into a painting. In the dream I knew the world was ending. I was surrounded by water up to my ankles with terrifyingly angry but still insanely beautiful spirits flying through the exploding sky above me. At one point one of them looked at me and it was pretty scary. That was the moment I chose to depict in my painting and I showed you this practice sketch:
Well I've finally started making some progress on the actual painting and I'm so excited about it! I'm at the point in the painting process where I don't want to do anything but paint the picture in my head. This is the sweet spot. My happiest time while painting happens during this phase. This is after the two month long "you're going to mess this up, don't even start it" phase, and about 8-10 hours before the "you're messing this up, why are you ruining everything?" phase which tends to be followed by the grand finale of "oh! you fixed it! I think...maybe?" and "let me stare at this for a few weeks/months/years before I decide if it's REALLY finished". Before all those fun phases begin, I'm feeling great and super excited to share the painting preview with you:
Tomorrow I'll be sharing a little more + details on my snazzy new video camera,
picked out by my smart husband, stay tuned!
