Take a look at the sneak peek of my newest Byrd Theater drawing!
It's no secret that I absolutely love this place. Ben and I have gone on about a million dates here over the last 6 or 7 years and it's always so much fun! But it was this past Christmas Eve that my obsession with it's awesomeness really exploded. Ben took me to see "It's a Wonderful Life" in the Byrd's balcony and it was by far the coolest, most Richmond-y experience of all time. The holidays put everyone in such a good mood and you could hear the audience making goofy comments during the whole movie which instead of being annoying, was hilarious and made me feel like we were with a giant group of friends. If you haven't done this yet, I highly recommend it!
I've already drawn the outside of the building, but it's the inside that truly takes your breath away. Once I finish up with my newest drawing I'll be putting it up for sale and 50% of the profit will go straight to the Byrd to help with the many renovations it's undertaking. Same goes for this drawing:
Buy it for $60 and know that you'll be making a difference in helping the Byrd Theater to get back to it's former glory! More specifically, let's get one step closer to getting this beautiful theater full of seats that don't make your bum go numb!
Interesting Facts about the Byrd:
Open 365 days a year (rain, shine, snow, no matter what!)
$1.99 for a ticket!
That giant chandelier you see when you walk in - has over 5,000 crystals and weighs OVER TWO TONS!
Tonight they are showing The Mockingjay, Part 1 at 7:15pm and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies at 9:30pm.
