Today I am very excited to share a personal blog about an adorable, tasty, and fun shower my sister-in-law, Ashleigh, and I hosted for my other sister-in-law Emily and her husband Gio, celebrating their baby girl Santina!
Photo - from left to right - me, Emily, Ashleigh :)
Ashleigh and her mama did a most of the work for this shower - making the (amazing and adorable) food, coordinating and sending out invites and organizing games. All I had to do was decorations and favors :)
I had a lot of fun making this backdrop using the same stand I use for my art shows. All I did was put a table cloth on either side and fabric down the middle. The challenge was attaching the paper flowers I made to the stand. Lotssssss of hot glue and tape involved. In case you're curious - there are soooo many detailed demos on how to make your own paper flowers if you look on Pinterest! They're a great inexpensive way to make unique decorations, you just have to have a little bit of patience and a high pain tolerance when it comes to being attacked by the glue gun ;)
Emily is SUCH a cute pregnant lady! :)
Emily and Gio are decorating Santina's room with owls and the main colors are dark pink and teal, so naturally, I had to make giant owl lanterns:
Also - would you LOOK at this owl cake????? Ashleigh picked that out from The Icing Bakery and it's quite possibly the cutest thing that has ever existed:
Santina's nickname is going to be Sadie, by the way, in case you were confused why some things say Sadie
and others Santina ;)
Ben's mom made a watermelon baby and the coolest watermelon carriage. She gave me the honors of making it's face. The eyebrows are made out of a thinly sliced blueberry. Equal parts creepy and awesome.
For the favors I made a sugar scrub in two different scents: Pomegranate and Aloe. They both smelled delicious and were SO easy to make! I have my best friend, Manda's mom to thank for this recipe: 2/3rds sugar, 1/3 Dawn hand soap. It makes your hands silky smooth and I was able to crank out all 47 of these pretty quickly. It was really just decorating part that took a while.
I made this welcome sign using foam core covered in wrapping paper :)
So there you have it! We are soooo excited for baby Santina to get here. She's going to be so cool just like her parents :)
PS, if Emily, Gio and Santina were owls, I think this is what they would look like:
