Remember these cool kids; Emily and Gio, from this blog? Well they're having their baby very soon and they asked me to help get their nursery together before baby Santina arrives!
So Ben and I drove down to NC this weekend to see how we could help.
Here's a shot of the nursery before we got started!
They had so many cute clothes, stuffed animals and other adorable things for the baby that Emily was really excited to get organized, but before she could do that she wanted to refinish the furniture. The armoire on the left and dresser on the right had been hers growing up. She wanted to give it new life with teal and crisp white to go with the nursery's color scheme (dark pink and teal). When she told me she was thinking of teal, I did some Pinterest-ing and found this photo which we used as inspiration:

After getting all the paint we needed (Americana Chalk Paint) + glass knobs, sand paper, distressing materials and wax, we got started on the smallest piece, this tall and skinny dresser. Emily, Gio, Ben and I each did something to help with this furniture process which made everything go by so much faster! Everything white that you see in the next photos was painted beautifully by Emily. Ben removed all the knobs and helped Gio sand down any previous paint drips and flaws in the furniture. All I had to worry about was the teal and distressing - which is my favorite part, so I was really excited :)
Ben snapped some photos while we were working, this gives you a better idea of how the armoire looked before it's makeover!
After the small dresser was done, Emily worked on making the large dresser white, while I distressed and waxed the drawers. Here's a shot of before we started working on the armoire!
The completed armoire! I'm in love :) :) :) :) :)
Before we got started on the large dresser:
Aaaaand after it was complete! Emily turned it into a changing table and it's soooo cute!!
My mom made the "S" canvas sign and gave it to Emily & Gio at their baby shower.
She sells these, so if you're interested in one of your own or for a friend, let me know!!
One of the finishing touches was this mirror:
It had been gold until I painted it teal and aged it with grey stain and a little metallic paint. I did this a couple months before we started on this furniture so I was really excited to see that it matched!
So there you have it! Later this week I'll explain more of the how-to in case you want to do this style on your own furniture. But for now, I hope you enjoyed checking out the makeover of this adorable nursery for what will surely be the cutest baby girl in all the world!
PS - could Emily BE any cuter??
