Last week I posted how awesome my in-laws are for giving me two awesome end tables to refinish. The first one was this pretty thang:
If you read that post you may remember me talking about the other end table, which I was thinking was entirely too cool to sell. Now that it's refinished, I'm OBSESSED and definitely won't be selling it.
Here's a before shot. First of all, have you ever seen an oval end table before? Super cool right? It's totally unique and sturdy with gorgeous detailing. While browns and hunter greens aren't my style, I felt a little sad covering it up. But I have to say that once it was done, it's exactly the kind of table I fantasize having for my office or our bedroom!
I used my new best friend, Americana Chalk Paint in white to coat this beauty. It took 3 coats and honestly could use another if you're looking real closely at it. Coat three was around the time I mildly regretted not splurging on Annie Sloan's Chalk Paint which reportedly only needs two coats on any surface. Something to look into next time I'm covering another darker stained piece of furniture...
I bought new glass knobs for a little less than $4 a piece at Home Depot. They're the same kind I used on this table and I think they look really pretty! But that's not to say I didn't love the original knobs from this table, I'm definitely saving them for the right piece. Sometimes the original hardware looks perfect with painted wood, like with this table I sold last week, other times it just doesn't fit.
A HUGE thank you to my in-laws for being so generous in giving me such awesome furniture. I love it I love it I love it!!
