Day 9 & 10 of the 100 Drawings in 100 Days Challenge:
Influenced by baby's breath & hot air balloons:
Day 10 (today!) - Today I drew my sister, Allie, and my nephew, Taylor:
Drawing Taylor was difficult, he never stops moving. But it was also a pretty adorable experience, when I would try to get his attention he would look at my drawing and say "WOWWWWW!" and "niiiiiiiice!" and right before he went in for his nap I showed him my progress and he said "BABY!!!". So that was definitely one of the highlights of my day :) It's crazy how different this process is from drawing straight from a photograph, something I've been doing for so long! In drawing from life, with the subject right in front of me - it's so much more fun and especially with adding the element of not allowing myself to initially look at my paper while I draw, it adds an unpredictability and childlike style that's unlike my previous work. I'm pretty excited about this :)
Here's another one I drew of myself:
Ben told me that it looked like the Napoleon Dynamite drawing:
Which I think is hilarious, and flattering - Trisha is such a babe. I just like how much I'm LIKING making art again. If you're an artist struggling with inspiration, PLEASE do the 100 Drawings Challenge. It will force you to remember why you loved art in the first place. I'll give you a hint - it's because it's completely yours, and also - it's freaking awesome.
