I'm a list person. I make lists for EVERYTHING. But it's been a while since I've made a business goals list, one that wasn't just a short term list of things I wanted done by the end of the week. I think I need a new in-five-years-this-is-where-i-want-to-be List. I know some of them seem far fetched but if I write it down, it will make it more possible...maybe?
-Have an office AND a studio space (constantly clearing off my art table to avoid getting splotches of paint on my laptop and camera would be the greatest of luxuries)
-Teach a class (on painting, on business, on marketing, anything someone wants me to teach them!)
-Triple the number of viewers to my website
-Be represented by a gallery
-Learn how to do my business taxes by muhself
-Receive the VMFA Fellowship for Professional Artists
-Work in a studio that has storage space for ALL my paintings
-Make enough money from my art to pay for a whole vacation for Ben and me!
-Illustrate the cover of a book
-Learn how to build my own panels (better & faster!)
-Paint a mural
-Sell 2 paintings off my site in one day
-Have a solo show in a place that is JUST a gallery (though showing in restaurants/galleries and frame shops/galleries is awesome, it'd be SO cool to have people come to a gallery just to see my work!)
-Paint in Tuscany
In 5 years I'll be so cool! What are the goals you have for yourself long term? How will you make sure they actually happen? I know one of them that I can get started on right now, and that's applying for the VMFA fellowship, deadline is only a month away!
Now enjoy the tunes of Noah & the Whale singing one of my favorite songs, "Five Years Time" :)
