Remember this ugly thing? It's supposed to be a computer desk, but I decided to use it as a storage cabinet/hutch type thing for our kitchen. It smelled baaaad before, but after a lot of clorox wipes and painting the inside, the smell started to fade.
After painting the inside with leftover Valspar paint from our entryway "Pirate Coast" and lining the shelves with grey chevron contact paper, it started getting pretty and I began putting some of my things inside of it:
Then after about a MILLION coats of paint on the outside (A couple coats of Bulls Eye 1-2-3 and too many to count coats of glossy white), this beast is DONE. Well, as done as it's going to be for now. The top could use another coat, but the fumes were starting to make me loopy so I'm taking a break for a while.
I used semi-gloss spray paint for the knobs to erase the yucky brass. The inside is still my favorite part, so I'm thinking the outside needs a little pop of color. Maybe some stenciling in a really light mint colored green!
It now holds almost all of my pretty dishes & placemats which is great since our kitchen lacks storage space for my collection of fancy teacups and cake plates. It's really amazing what a coat of white paint can do!
