About a month ago, one of my favorite customers - Parker - commissioned me to create a custom painting as a wedding gift to a family friend & her soon-to-be husband. Parker is great to work with because he gives me a TON of artistic freedom!
He came to my office and gave me a photo to reference, and said that he was interested in something abstract. I showed him an abstract portrait I had created a while back, that was also a commissioned custom wedding present (below) created on a cradled Ampersand claybord, and he agreed to have me create his painting in the same style.
This style is so fun for me so I was really excited to get started!! And one of the best things about this commission was that Parker wanted the painting to be 30x36" (YAY!!)! Working large scale is my favorite!
Parker also mentioned that he wanted the colors in the painting to be brighter than the photograph, so I did some Photoshop manipulation and made a grid to simplify my process.
Drawing the grid + mapping out where everything in the painting would go took a while, but it made painting a breeze!
I seriously LOVED making this painting!!!
And here's the final product!
I can't wait to hear what this couple thinks about their painting, and I'm so grateful for Parker trusting me to create a gift for a such a special occasion!
I would love to create more custom paintings in this style, so if this sounds like fun to you, fill this out and we'll talk details!! :)
