Last Thursday my parent's friends, Tracie & Chris, gave me two fun pieces of furniture to makeover. The first was this wrought iron chair that I painted mint:
The second piece they gave me was a very large and sturdy dresser that I haven't started refinishing just yet - but that I can't wait to get started on!! While I was there they asked me if I would be interested in refinishing their coffee table. Tracie told me she likes the distressed/shabby chic look and she gave me the freedom to decide the details. Almost right away I got started!
I am majorly regretting not taking a better "before" shot of this unique coffee table :( But hopefully you can tell from this cell phone pick that it's very different from this:
I chose Americana's Chalk Paint in "Whisper" which is a very pretty creamy color with a hint of yellow. I distressed it using sand paper and screws to get the tiny scratches.
I wish I could remember who recommended using a screw to distress because I would thank them now! It's really the best!
In this picture you can sort of see the bottom of the tray where the adjustment openings for the legs are:
One of the coolest things about this table is that it can function in two ways, either as a low coffee table or a tall bar table! All you have to do is flip the bottom and it locks in place into the tray. I've never seen a table like this before!
I loved refinishing this table. The creamy color lightened it up so much, I was sad to see it go! But then last night Tracie sent me a photo of how the finished product looks in her home and it made me so happy :)
