In case you thought I'd given up on the 100 Drawings in 100 Days Challenge, here's three new drawings!
It's weird for me, getting back into portraiture when I've spent so much time running in the opposite direction. But there's something different about these partially drawn faces. When I'm drawing someone besides myself, I ask them to count to 60 and stare at my forehead - during that time I don't allow myself to look at my paper as I draw them. Later I add in details, shading in the areas that I think make a person most recognizable - this always includes at least one eye. The process is kind of funny, it makes people pretty uncomfortable to have someone staring at them as intensely as I do during these sessions. I think there's more to this. Maybe a painting series to stem out of the drawings, I'm not sure yet. But I'm really enjoying the process, and for now that's all I need! :)
